Mark your calendars and prepare to be inspired! The 2025 Garden & Vista Tour is set for Saturday, June 28, and this year’s self-guided experience will celebrate the breathtaking native and ornamental flora flourishing in Johnson County, Tennessee.


From serene shade gardens to vibrant floral landscapes, this tour showcases how local gardeners creatively embrace the challenges and gifts of life in the Appalachian Mountains. Whether you're a plant enthusiast, a weekend gardener, or simply looking for a beautiful day out, you’ll enjoy exclusive access to six uniquely stunning gardens:

  • The Moodys Kitchen & Cottage Gardens

  • The Miller Whimsical Garden

    The Golding Laurel River

  • The LaBonne Hilltop Gardens

🎨 Calling All Artists: Paint the Beauty of the Tour!

Coinciding with the garden tour is a special event for visual artists: Plein Air in the Garden. Open to all artists working in 2D mediums, this event invites creatives to paint amidst the beauty of the tour gardens or the charm of downtown Mountain City.


🕘 Event Details:

  • Sign-In Time: 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.

  • Location: Johnson County Center for the Arts’ Gallery on Main129 W. Main St., Mountain City, TN

  • Paint Time: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

  • Turn-In Deadline: 4:30 p.m.

  • Entry Fee: $25 (includes canvas/work surface stamp)


Artists may submit up to three framed or gallery-wrapped finished works. Whether you’re inspired by a hilltop garden or the heart of town, this is your chance to capture the spirit of Johnson County on canvas.
